Hard Waste

Have bulky waste sitting dormant at home?

Many in the Burnie community would have participated in Council's Hard Waste kerbside collection in recent years.

'Hard Waste' means household waste items not suitable for collection in the regular kerbside bin garbage and recyclables collections.

In May this year Council completed an assessment of the program and determined not to continue with kerbside collections due to significant cost escalation and a range of operational and safety issues.

There will be no hard waste kerbside collection this year, however Council will provide a FREE Hard Waste - Drop Off Week in May 2022 at the Burnie Waste Management Centre, Mooreville Road.

Each Burnie household will be able to drop off one load of bulky items to the Burnie Waste Management Centre for free during that 7 day period. Customers will be required to show evidence of being a Burnie resident.

We understand that some households in our community may not have the means to take bulky items to the Waste Centre, we will aim to assist those in genuine need.
