Burnie's parks and reserves have an extensive choice of facilities and services where you can enjoy a host of recreational activities. They include playgrounds, barbecue, and picnic areas as well as off-leash areas for your dog.

Burnie Park

Soft green grass, trees of many species, a rose garden, rhododendrons, a waterfall, a music shell, a memorial cenotaph, playgrounds, barbecues, picnic furniture, accessible playground and toilet facilities are all featured within a short drive from Burnie, at Burnie Park.

Burnie Waterfront, West Beach

Follow the main streets of the city centre to the Burnie foreshore, the City by the Sea. West Beach is a block from the central business district and is connected by boardwalk to the Makers' Workshop and the little penguin habitat on the western end of the beach.

Cooee Point Reserve

Absolute beachfront! The Burnie City Council provides a short stay (max 2 nights) free camping permit for fully self-contained vehicles, 2.5km west of the Burnie town centre.

Fern Glade Reserve

A peaceful river valley on the edge of the city abundant in flora and fauna.

Guide Falls

A 20-minute scenic drive south of Burnie past the township of Ridgley, Guide Falls is the most accessible waterfall in the Burnie hinterland.

Oakleigh Park

This small historical parkland has an important link with the European settlement of Burnie.

Romaine Reserve

Romaine Reserve features a fitness track that winds around a dam on Romaine Creek containing domestic and wild fowl. On leash dog exercise is permitted in some areas.

Upper Natone Forest Reserve

The Upper Natone Reserve is a popular recreational area featuring BBQ's, picnic tables, uni-sex toilets, play area with swings, and the Pat Crane shelter. An easy half-hour stroll along a walking track through diverse native vegetation is well worth a look.

View Road Reserve

Home of the Burnie Challenge and Disc Golf (frisbee golf), the large reserve boasts creeks, grassed areas and tracks. It is close to the city and suitable for walking, running, cycling, dog park (enclosed exercise area) and recreation.
