UPDATE: Completion revision - Wet weather has delayed completion of the works, which are now expected to be completed by the end of July.

Burnie City Council has been successful in obtaining a grant under the Safer Rural Road Program (Department of State Growth) to undertake various edge widening work on approx. 4.1km of Natone Road, from Iron Mine Road to Camena Road.

The widening, which includes asphalt swales on the inside of corners, repairing road shoulders and edge breaks, is proposed to reduce curve and run-off bend related crashes. Work also includes the replacement, extension and install of new storm water culverts. Work has commenced onsite and will continue until mid-June. Traffic management, including lane closures and a reduced speed limit will be in place. We apologise for any inconvenience these works may cause.
