The Burnie Waterfront Playground is a popular place for families to meet and for the kids to enjoy, however it’s been a bit of a hike to the nearest toilet!
Whilst the Council is all for families going running together, we think to avoid the last minute dash to the other end of the beach the “Waterfront Playground Toilet” will be welcome news.
On Monday 8 July 2019, Council employees will fence off the small grass area and begin construction of underground conduits and a gravel base for the pre-fabricated structure.
From Monday 15 July, CBB Contracting for Council will install a new sewer pipe bored under the rail line to the south side of North Terrace. Then for a few hours on a Sunday later in July, North Terrace will be closed between King and Alexander Street and a short section of boardwalk to provide access for a large crane to place down the pre-fabricated toilet.
Then from Monday 22 July Council staff and our Electrical Contractors will be back on the job to install the footpaths, aesthetic touches, electrical systems and plumbing infrastructure.
Finally, weather pending, during the first week of August Council’s team of gardeners will landscape the site to finish the job.
