Waterfront Projects to Start

Burnie City Council Mayor Alvwyn Boyd said “Council has allocated funds in the current financial year for the construction of an elevated boardwalk on the Eastern bund, which is part of the original Waterfront Master Plan; and the redevelopment of the Burnie Surf Life Saving Club building.
“The projects are in close proximity to each other and contain work elements suited to building contractors. As a result the projects were packaged together and delivered cost savings from undertaking both projects simultaneously.”
Fairbrother Pty Ltd will bring an experienced team to the projects and provided a complete tender submission. Fairbrother Project Manager Brad Symmons said “Fairbrother is extremely pleased to be working with the Burnie City Council and Jaws Architects on another important community project. We look forward to the successful delivery of what will be a first class facility.”
Consultation has occurred with the major stakeholders; Burnie Surf Life Saving Club, Bayviews, Fish Frenzy and the Burnie City Council Events Team who manage a number of events in the area during the year.
Burnie Surf Life Saving Club President Stuart Paine said “The Surf Club is very happy that the tender has been awarded and the renovations are now about to commence. We as a club are looking forward to now working with the Burnie City Council and Fairbrother to deliver a great asset for the rate payers of Burnie.”
