The launch of The Heritage Burnie Ten - the 35th anniversary of one of the State’s premier 10km road races – will take place this Saturday, 3 August 2019 at the Burnie foreshore at 9am to coincide with the start of the Burnie parkrun.

The event organisers eagerly await the return of local star and race record holder Stewart McSweyn who will attempt to be first male to win three consecutive Burnie Ten titles this October. Sydney’s Lara Tamsett is the only other athlete to achieve this feat.

Three and a half decades is an incredible achievement for a local single sporting event of this type. A race like The Heritage Burnie Ten cannot thrive without the eager participation of the public, a passionate and loyal group of supporting businesses, a small army of keen volunteers and the guidance and governance of an enthusiastic and knowledgeable committee.

The event’s website will open for registrations the day before on 2 August 2019, inviting online entries of individuals, groups and teams. This year three people out of every four will register to participate in our race online.

All entries received before 13 September 2019 will receive an early bird discount.

The RACT Burnie 5km race and the ParaQuad Tasmania 5km wheelchair race will also be held this October, allowing participants an opportunity to experience the excitement of a mass – start race but over a more moderate distance.
