The Community Paper Clothing Competition is on again in 2019! The grand opening and awards night for this event is 4-6pm on the 8 November at the Coastal Art Gallery Upper Burnie.

The competition is now in its 10th year and brings together Burnie’s history in the paper industry with the artistic talents of our community. It is a wonderfully creative activity that engages all ages, not to mention a constructive pastime for students over the school holidays.

It is an amateur competition and thus excludes participants with professional dress making qualifications. You can make clothing, headwear/masks and jewelry has been added as a category this year.

The competition sets the challenge either as a team or individual to create life size clothing, a face mask or headwear, and jewelry, purely from paper product. This can include using newspapers, fast food wrappers, shopping dockets or even toilet paper.

There are three age categories which can be entered:

  • Primary School
  • High School Grade 7/8/9/10
  • Open age category

Completed entries must be received at the Coastal Art Gallery on the 4th-5th November.
