The Burnie Street Art Festival, a celebration of street art aimed at brightening up our city, will be held on Saturday 11 January.

Burnie City Council Mayor Steve Kons said “The festival centrepiece will be the creation of two major artworks at separate locations within our city – both on backdrops that are crying out for some creative attention!”

The first location will be a wall adjacent to the Burnie Library with artwork by Damian Rossiter. People are invited to view and celebrate this installation between 10:30am and 12:30pm. There will be a hive of activity happening around the library vicinity including solo performances by Dana Collins and Maya Mitchell, with food from Delicious Dutch Donuts as well as activities in the library.

On the walk over to the second location, we encourage patrons to visit the Burnie Regional Art Gallery to check out the widely popular exhibition BigBoys Toys by Eamon O’Toole. Entry to this exhibition is FREE.

The second location will be the north facing wall of the Wilmot St Overpass with artwork by Paul Eggins, which will be celebrated between 1pm and 4pm following the library event.

There will be a market, food stalls and stage with live music from bands including the J Arthur Band playing through the afternoon at the King Street Car Park which is adjacent to the Wilmot St Overpass location. Relax with food and tunes while you watch creativity unfold bringing those dreary walls to life!

It will be a busy day in Burnie with the Seven Seas Voyager Cruise Ship scheduled to dock with 1153 visitors.

Invitations to market stall and food vendors are still open and we invite interested vendors to apply to be part of the festival. Download the Burnie Street Art Festival Guide below and complete your application form online.

This is an alcohol and smoke free event. The King Street Car Park will be closed for general parking all day on 11 January due to the festival.

Burnie City Council has allocated $10,000 towards the street art festival project in its budget.
