Burnie businesses work together for retail promotion

Burnie City Council’s Local Trader Marketing Grants program, which provides for retailers in the city to develop promotional campaigns with a contribution from Council, has been extended to June 2020.
The Local Trader Marketing Grants program encourages Burnie business to partner up and apply for financial support for promotional activities during the 2019/20 financial year.
Burnie City Council Mayor Steve Kons said he “encourages retailers to get on board with this program and develop some promotional campaigns in time for the festive season. Unlike other grants processes, Council aims for a fast turnaround with this program, meaning that Council will assess the application and provide you with a response within two weeks from receiving the application.”
Successful grants will require a cash or in-kind co-contribution of 50% of the funds being sought (up to $2,500); they must be a partnership involving a minimum of five businesses; and can include the provision of Council equipment free of charge to support promotional events if required.
The program so far has assisted local business to deliver promotions such as the City Christmas Display, Autumn Sale and End of Financial Year promotions, State-wide Power Lifting competition, Easter promotions, Goodbye Autumn Hello Winter, Emu Valley Rhododendron Gardens Wedding Fair and the Love your Local promotion.
