The Burnie City Council has taken over the ownership and management of the Burnie Farmers Market.

Burnie City Council Acting Mayor Giovanna Simpson said “Council is looking forward to managing the first market this Saturday, 2 March, with the continued assistance of the Burnie Men’s Shed. The Burnie Men’s Shed is a not-for-profit community group, wholly run by volunteers, and Council is extremely grateful that they will continue their great work facilitating the market.”

“In the medium term, the Burnie Farmers Market will continue to run in its current format at the Wivenhoe Showgrounds on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, from 8am to 1pm; however Council would like to explore options of moving the market into the CBD in the future.”

Stallholders are being contacted by Council this week to register their details with Council, but in the meantime if stallholders have any questions, they can contact Allison Daley on adaley@burnie.net or 6430 5706.
