Volunteering for the City of Burnie
The Burnie City Council recognises the importance of volunteers and the valuable contribution they make. We engage approximately 100 volunteers in different programs throughout the city.
There are volunteers cataloging historic photos in our museum; volunteers selling tickets to exhibitions in our art gallery; and volunteers helping out at Burnie events.
Volunteering for the City can see you located at various locations throughout Burnie supporting and welcoming Cruise Ship passengers during the season, or providing valuable support to the tourism industry at the Visitor Information Centre at Makers’ Workshop. They are the friendly faces that our visitors remember and we are fortunate to have them.
We believe that all members of our community deserve the right to experience the benefits of volunteering.
If you are interested in finding out more about volunteering for Council please complete the Volunteer Enquiry form on this page and someone from your area of interest will be in contact.
If you are interested in volunteering, but the council programs aren't really up your alley, visit the Volunteering Tasmania website and see what other programs are available in your area, there are some exciting and varied roles to choose from - perhaps you could be a Bread Collector for Produce to the People, a Volunteer Shop Assistant for St Vincent de Paul, or an Adult and Family Literacy Tutor for Libraries Tasmania?
