During July, the Burnie City Council and the University of Tasmania embarked on a process to explore all the future possibilities for the University of Tasmania’s move to West Park, a reimagined Makers’ Workshop, and the opportunities it enables for our region.
The document we shared outlined a set of Guiding Principles - Community, Accessibility, Place and Sustainability - to help guide all future uses and operations of West Park.
We wanted to know if these were still the right fit, and the feedback we received was highly supportive. As a result, the feedback was incorporated into a Draft Precinct Agreement between Burnie City Council and the University.
In September, the community were invited to have a say about what should and shouldn’t be included in the Precinct Agreement, this feedback is now being considered.
Thank you for being part of this conversation to date.
Phase 1 - Community feedback on the guiding principals ended on Saturday, 31 July
Phase 2 - Community feedback on the Draft Precinct Agreement ended on Thursday, 30 September
Our plan for West Park to be released in November
