The City of Burnie has a 20-year history in providing a world-class meet-and-greet service to the cruise ship industry.
Building on a single visit in 1999, Burnie now welcomes more than 30 ships a season. Cruise ship visitation has developed into an integral and valuable part of the region’s tourism economy, dispersing passengers and crew within Burnie and north-west Tasmania.
Burnie's Mayor, councillors and hard-working volunteers are on hand to welcome the cruise ship passengers to our wonderful city, rain, hail or shine.
Visitors have a range of options to choose from; exploring the Burnie CBD and its close surrounds or travelling throughout the region to explore the many tourism experiences available. Cruise ship passengers who are seeking more information about Burnie as a port of call can visit our Tourism website.
If you are interested in finding out what volunteering involves or are a local business interested in participating in potential marketing opportunities please contact the Burnie Visitor Information Centre at Makers’ Workshop on 03 6430 5831 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
The City of Burnie sincerely thanks all volunteers who support the cruise ship visits.
