Waterfalls

Guide Falls, located in West Ridgley, is an impressive, easily accessible natural waterfall, and is best viewed in the winter and spring months.
There are several other waterfalls in the Burnie municipality which are situated on privately owned land. Viewing of these must be pre-arranged with the owners.
Lookouts
Burnie can be seen at all angles from some of our amazing lookouts. The view from the Roundhill Lookout is spectacular at sunrise and sunset, and the Wilf Campbell Memorial Lookout offers a fantastic view of the Port and CBD areas.
Wildlife
See Little Penguins in their natural habitat at the Little Penguin Observation Centre, located at Parsonage Point, Burnie. Prepare to be surprised.... right next to the bustling Burnie CBD is a colony of little penguins going about their lives right before your eyes. The Observation Centre lets you experience these fascinating birds firsthand, any time of the day or night - for free! Guided tours can be arranged by appointment.
OR....
Watch the graceful Platypus as it glides through the water from Fernglade, Burnie. Fernglade is just a few minutes drive east of the city, and is a beautiful, ferny environment with picnic facilities. This area is locally renowned for it's excellent platypus viewing opportunities. This relaxing pastime requires some patience and quiet, but is well worth the wait. Guided tours can be arranged by appointment.
