My Favourite Australian - National Portrait Gallery

A video exhibition from the National Portrait Gallery currently on display at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery titled ‘My Favourite Australian’. In early 2008, the ABC with the National Portrait Gallery called upon all Australians to vote for both their Most Popular Australian as well as nominating their favourite Unsung Australian Hero to feature in a video installation. Local Unsung Hero, David Turner, is included in the exhibition. David is the Musical Director of the Burnie Concert Band who will be performing a concert at the Gallery on Sunday 14 March 2010 at 2pm after the official opening by Rosie Wasson, President of the Friends of the Gallery.

HELLYER COMMUNITY CHOIR will be presenting a programmed of MUSIC FOR EASTER, featuring Community Hymn Singing and including Choral and Small Group musical items.

Kids in the Park

Kids in the Park will included such things as; a main stage with non-stop musical and dance entertainment, the ‘Battle Castle Film Set’, the ‘Fairy Kingdom’, the ‘Butterfly Bubble Pond’, the ‘Food Precinct’, ‘Egg and Spoon Races’ and the ‘Easter Egg Hunt’.
In addition to the activities, there are roaming circus performers and characters in the park all afternoon with the Easter Bunny giving out thousands of Easter Eggs.

This is a 9 piece outfit from the NW Coast of tasmania whose repertoire encompasses rock, soul and a tantalising soupon of funk. They have been the headline act for many major functions over teh last nine years, including the 2009 A Night on ther Terrace.

Short Attention - A mini festival of Australian short films

This is a mini festival of short films made by Australian film makers. Three programs shown over two weekends have been especially put together for teh Burnie Arts & Functions Centre. Funny, suspenseful, romantic - these films will intrigue and enthral you. The longest film is 18 minutes, the shortest only 2. Each 90 minute program contains 9 to 11 individual gems.

Cradle Coast Outrigger Corporate Cup Challenge

Bring along a group of 5 work collegues or family members to compete. Only 100 tickets available (random prize draws for sponsorship).
Distance: 200 metres Categories: Men's, Women's & Mixed. Races will be competed in heats of 4, with fastest times used to enter finals. A steerer and paddles will be supplied by the club. Presentations and prize draws will be made directly at the completion of the final at the beach.
