Waste Collection

Waste Collection days

Weekly rubbish collection services operate throughout the urban areas of Burnie and Ridgley.

Details of collection times and days are noted in the link above.

Household rubbish can be deposited only in 80, 120 or 240 litre mobile garbage bins.  The total weight must be less than 65kg including the bin, and only household refuse may be left for collection.  All food waste, vacuum cleaner dust and other materials likely to be offensive or to spread must be wrapped prior to being placed in a rubbish bin.

Bins are to be placed within 300mm of the front of the kerb in such a location that it will not present undue hazard to pedestrians.

  • Council’s Refuse Disposal Site is open seven (7) days a week.
  • Monday-Friday, 9.00 am to 4.00 pm
  • Saturday, Sunday, Public Holidays, 12.00 noon to 4.00 pm
  • Christmas Day, Good Friday and Anzac Day - Closed

Some restrictions apply to certain wastes, including bio-hazardous wastes, liquids and toxic wastes.  For details regarding these, enquiries should be made to Council by telephoning 6433 3106.
