The Land & Environmental Services Department is responsible for all approvals as required by the Tasmanian Building Regulations. These regulations assure all residents that commercial, industrial, all residential buildings, garages, carports and rural buildings are constructed to an acceptable standard and it ensures that residents are protected at all times.
New incoming laws require new Development Application Forms and these will be available shortly as the council finalises them, however the Development Guides [217k] are still available here for download and viewing.
The newly created Planning and Development Applications Online Service (LanDA) went live on 27 May 2005 and can be accessed here.

Telecommunications - To ensure that services are provided in your development with minimal disruption and cost, you need to ensure that early notification to a Telecommunications Carrier is given. The "Universal Service Obligation" (USO) for Telecommunications currently resides with Telstra. In order to ensure that Telstra can have the services available for when you require them please "Register Your Development" on the www.telstrasmartcommunity.com website to ensure co-ordination of trenching with your other infrastructure.
In the meantime if you have any questions or require any help please call 6430 5700.
