At the meeting held 30 January 2018, Council determined not to change the speed limit on West Mooreville Road.

Council thanks all members of the community for providing feedback which assisted Council with this decision. In summary, there was limited community support for the reduction of the speed limit.

The report can be viewed here: Minutes-30-January-2018

Council is considering a proposal to reduce the speed limit on a section of West Mooreville Road, from just north of Poimena Road to the Ridgley town boundary, from 100km/hr to 80km/hr.

Council considered a Report at the Council Meeting held on 21 November 2017, which raised road safety concerns and resolved to progress community consultation to assist decision-making.

In summary, the report provides background information, speed count results, accident history and speed assessment criteria.

Council is seeking your views on the West Mooreville Road Speed Reduction Proposal Plan.

This plan shows the section of road proposed for 80km/hr and includes speed counter results at four locations.  The 85th percentile speed is the speed that 85% of motorists travel at or below.

The period for consultation and feedback closes Monday, 18 December 2017 at 10am.

You can provide feedback via the online form below, email burnie@burnie.net or write to us at Burnie City Council, PO Box 973, Burnie Tasmania 7320.
