View Road/West Park Grove Intersection - UPDATE

View Road

At the meeting held 30 January 2018, Council determined to progress only one element of the project being the installation of a pedestrian refuge on View Road.

The current intersection arrangement will not be changed.

Council thanks all members of the community for providing feedback which assisted Council with this decision. Feedback was reported to Council at the January 2018 meeting.

In summary, there was limited community support for the proposed modifications to the View Road/West Park Grove intersection.

The report can be viewed here: Minutes-30-January-2018

Council is considering a proposal to modify the View Road/West Park Grove intersection to create a T junction and a dedicated right turn lane from West Park Grove into View Road.  The proposal is to close the south bound slip lane from View Road onto West Park Grove.

As a result of feedback from a letter sent to residents of properties near the intersection, Council considered a Motion on Notice at the Council Meeting held on 21 November 2017 to put the project on hold until public consultation had occurred.  The feedback raised concerns associated with closure and functionality of the slip lane and loss of parking required to implement the right turn lane.

We are seeking your views on the View Rd-West Park Grove Intersection Concept Plan.

The plan shows the closure of the slip lane to be a grass island. The T junction provides sufficient with for simultaneous left and right turns and the right turn lane from West Park Grove into View Road requires parking control across the frontage of three residences on the western side of West Park Grove to achieve the road space required.

The period for consultation and feedback closes at 10am on Monday, 18 December 2017.
