The Burnie City Council’s 2019 Volunteer Recognition Awards will be held on Tuesday 21 May 2019 at the Arts and Function Centre.

The Burnie City Council’s 2019 Volunteer Recognition Awards will be held on Tuesday 21 May 2019 at the Burnie Arts and Function Centre. Council would like to invite organisations to nominate volunteers who may be eligible for an award.

While people can still be nominated in 1,000, 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000 hour categories, we have now extended the nomination hours past 10,000 hours in five year increments for example 15,000 hours, 20,000 hours and so on to enable recognition of those people who continue to accumulate volunteering hours.

Hours can be accumulated within more than organisation and from the time that the volunteer gave their first hour to Burnie. As a guide, a 20 hour per week volunteer would donate approximately 1,000 hours to the community annually.

Hours must be accumulated with a Burnie-based organisation and/or within the Burnie municipality and non-Burnie residents can only include hours volunteered in Burnie.  This is to ensure that people are being recognised for their contribution to Burnie and to encourage those who are dedicated supporters of this fantastic City.

Please find a nomination form on this page. Nominations close on Friday 3 May 2019.

The 2019 Volunteer Awards will be held at the Arts and Function Centre Town Hall at 12.45pm for a 1pm start.
