Youth lead the charge for an all ages metal and punk music gig

Thanks to an enterprising group of young people, metal and punk music lovers will soon be treated to an all ages gig featuring local and Hobart bands.

Youth Making Change Around Burnie (YMCAB) is an active group of young people aged 14-25 who organise, facilitate and promote events for young people within the Burnie community.

Burnie City Council Mayor Anita Dow said, “The great thing about YMCAB, is that it is driven primarily by our youth. Council’s Youth Development Officer is there to guide them along the way, but they are the ones that come up with the ideas, which makes sense because they know what young people in our community want to do.”

The all ages gig will be held at the Upper Burnie Memorial Hall on Saturday 8 October, kicking off at 1pm. This is an alcohol free event.

Three Hobart bands will be playing: Interview with an Escape Artist, Breakthrough and Absolute Sequence, and they will be joined by Burnie bands: Weeper and Within These Walls.

Cost is just $3.00.
