The Boy From Oz

Burnie Musical Society presents The Boy From Oz – opening on Friday 24 August, 7.30 pm at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre Theatre; with the season running through to closing night on Saturday 8 September.

The Boy From Oz tells about the life of the great Australian entertainer, Peter Allen. The show starts in the 1950s with his humble beginnings growing up in a small Australian town. He then experiences a meteoric rise to fame as an international star opening for Judy Garland and sells out shows at Radio City Music Hall. The show follows his dazzling career and features an amazing array of Peter Allen tunes, including Tenterfield Saddler and I Still Call Australia Home.

Local, Casey White will be directing his first Burnie Musical Show. Casey first performed for the Burnie Musical Society in The Sound of Music and has gone on to have successful musical theatre involvements on the mainland.

The Boy from Oz is a major show and Burnie Musical Society are very excited to have been able to secure the rights to bring this production to the North West Coast.

The show will feature a cast of local performers, a choir of over 30 primary school students, a troupe of Burnie's best dancers and a set design that embraces Peter’s Australian heritage. With an energetic performance style The Boy From Oz will be an all-engrossing musical spectacular that will have you singing along, dancing in the aisles and feeling ever-proud to Call Australia Home!
