Tasdance kicks off national tour in Burnie

Tasdance will begin their national tour in Burnie at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre this Friday 11 May at 7:30pm.

Deputy Mayor Sandra French said, “Tasdance are such great representatives for Tasmania and are creating a well regarded reputation for contemporary dance in our state. We love having them visit Burnie and have them share their contemporary style to the dance lovers of our City.”

Identity is Tasdance’s latest double bill choreographed by Anton and Frances Rings.

Director of the Burnie Arts & Function Centre Greg Leong said, “Be prepared for an inspiring evening showcasing the work of two very different artists. Frances and Anton each reveal their perceptions of the unique Australian cultural identity during the performance.”

What makes us who we are or, more to the point who we think we are? Is it our groovy clothes or the way we cut our hair? Is it the circle of friends we have or the club we belong to? Does it come from our parents or where we grew up? Is it our genetics, or is it our culture that shapes us? What is it that gives us our unique identity?

“If you love contemporary dance and want to see some of the most outstanding choreography, then book your tickets today!” Mr Leong said.
Tasdance’s national tour of Identity is touring to nine other venues after Burnie in Victoria and New South Wales.
