Swing Man

One of Australia's best character comedians, Damian Callinan, confirms what many had already suspected: he suffers from OTTDs [Over The Top Dance Syndrome]. He performs Swing Man, at the Burnie Town Hall on Wednesday 1 August, 7.30 pm.

After years of eschewing partner dancing and cutting up dance floors on his own, he discovers that the only cure is to learn how to Swing Dance.

Swing Man sends Callinan on a journey back to the incidents in his adolescence that set him on his path - a fracas at a Bush Dance, unrequited love at Ballroom Dancing, and the revelation that as a 17 year old he was abducted by Swing-era obsessed aliens who set him an ultimatum to learn how to Swing dance by the time he is 51.

‘Lindy Hop’ on down to watch the three-time Barry nominee ‘Shag’ his way through his ‘Boogie Woogie’ midlife crisis.

Burnie Town Hall will be set in ‘cabaret’-style with discounts for tables of 8, so get a group together for a fun night out.

Damian Callinan is a multi-award-winning stand-up comic, actor and writer. He is best known to TV audiences for his roles on Skithouse, Before The Game, Spicks and Specks and the Melbourne Comedy Festival Gala. Damian has recently adapted his stage show The Merger into a feature film. Starring Damian himself alongside Kate Mulvany, John Howard, Nick Cody, Penny Cook & Fayssal Bazzi, the film has been asked to Gala Premiere at Melbourne International Film Festival on August 11th and will be in cinemas from August 30th.
