Round two grants announced

A helping hand has been given to successful clubs, organisations and individuals as part of Burnie City Council’s 2011/2012 Financial Assistance Grants program.

A call for applications was advertised in mid September for groups and individuals to apply for round two of the funding.

Mayor Steve Kons said, “We are always pleased to see so many community groups working hard to try and improve their club or project for the better of the community.

“There are always more applicants than funds available and I urge those who were unsuccessful this round to apply again next time.”

The grants program is open to all not-for-profit organisations that plan to hold community projects in the Burnie Municipality to occur during the 2011/2012 financial year.

The successful clubs, organisations and individuals that have been awarded a grant in the Burnie City Council’s Financial Assistance Grants program (round two) are:

Organisation/Club/Individual   Grant amount
 Fern Park Pony Club  $2,937
 Burnie Tennis Club  $300
 Cradle Coast Outriggers Club  $2,946
 Cradle Coast Stringalong Club  $1,405
North West People with Disabilities  $1,000
RSPCA $3,242
Burnie Community House $3,458

“These grants will see new and vital equipment installed in local clubs, new sporting equipment to run programs for our youth and programs to improve quality of life and social inclusion.

“Congratulations to the clubs and organisations that were successful in gaining funding. Their hard work has been recognised and we thank them for their contribution to our community,” Mayor Kons said.

A call for applications for round one for 2012/13 will be advertised in March 2012.
