Rogetta Project to benefit the Region

Burnie City Council has welcomed the news that Forward Mining’s Rogetta project, south of Burnie, has received Federal environmental approval.

The Project involves open cut mining of iron ore, on-site processing and shipping from Burnie and will bring in annual export revenues of up to $100 million.

Burnie City Council Mayor Alvwyn Boyd said “the Project could now proceed, delivering significant economic and social benefits for the Burnie region.

“This includes approximately 200 jobs during the construction phase and up to 100 permanent positions during the operational phase.

“This latest news, together with the Hermal development at Hampshire is great for our city, our region and our State.

“I congratulate Forward Mining in successfully gaining the necessary environmental approvals for the Project, and look forward to the Project proceeding.”
