Revised edition of Federation Walks of Burnie brochure launched

Burnie City Council, in conjunction with the Burnie Tourism Association and the Burnie Regional Museum are excited to launch the revised edition of the Federation Walks of Burnie brochure today.

In 2010, two Federation Walks of Burnie brochures were originally researched by Christine and Ray Crawshaw on behalf of the Burnie Tourism Association. The brochures proved to be very popular but unfortunately have been out of print for a little while, until now.

With the assistance of the original authors, the Burnie Tourism Association and the Burnie Regional Museum, the brochures have been updated and combined into one wonderful brochure.

Federation Walks of Burnie contains details of two walks – one looking at domestic architecture and the other looking at civic architecture. Both walks are in or close to the Burnie CBD.

Deputy Mayor Alvwyn Boyd said, “These brochures were always very popular with our cruise ship visitors, so it is wonderful to be able to produce and launch another quality brochure.”

“The brochures themselves may not be a key motivator to attract visitors to Burnie, however they certainly have the potential to enrich their experience and help them gain a deeper understanding of our wonderful city when they are here.”

“Council is hopeful that this will lead to more co-operative projects between ourselves, the Burnie Tourism Association and the Burnie Regional Museum.”

The main distribution points for the brochure will be through local accommodation, attractions and the Visitor Information Centre at the Makers’ Workshop.

The brochure will be officially launched at the Burnie Regional Museum today at 3:15pm.
