Paper Clothing Competition 2015

The Paper Clothing Competition is on again for 2015 and we are calling for entries!

Burnie Mayor Anita Dow said, “This competition is such a great initiative as it showcases the creative people we have in our community, whilst celebrating Burnie’s history in the paper industry.”

“This amateur competition is in its sixth year and was born out of a concept from the 2009 International Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists conference.”

“We are calling on people of all ages to enter, as there are three separate categories – 13 and under, 13 – 18 years and 18 and over. However it is important to note that this is an amateur competition, therefore it excludes participants with any formation tertiary or other professional dress making qualifications.”

Entrants must create a life-size garment made from paper products such as tissue paper, paper mache, newspaper, toilet paper, lolly wrappers, shopping dockets or cardboard.

“There are so many different paper products to choose from, people are really only limited by their imagination,” Mayor Dow said.

All paper clothing entries must be accompanied with registration forms and a photo of the entry. Entries must be dropped off at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery between Monday 20 July and Friday 24 July 2015. Late entries will not be accepted.

Winners of each category will be announced at a function on Friday 31 July 2015.
