New exhibition at Pioneer Village Museum

There is a brand new exhibition set to open at the Pioneer Village Museum for National Family History Week.

National Family History Week starts this Friday 29 July and runs until Monday 8 August.

Pioneer Village Museum Curator Georgia Luck said, “On Friday 29, family history experts are holding two free sessions at the museum to share tips and tools on how to best research your own family history. The first session is on at 2pm and the second at 5:30pm.”

Bookings are essential. Book your place in one of these sessions and learn how to preserve your family’s history by calling 6430 5746 or email museum@burnie.net

On Monday 1 August a new exhibition titled Branching Out: Burnie’s Family Tree will officially open at the Pioneer Village Museum.

“It is extremely exciting to be presenting a new exhibition to the community. The exhibition will tell the story of some of our community members and their very different family histories. We hope that everyone who has an interest in the history of Burnie and the people who make up our community today will come along and enjoy this new exhibition,” she said.

As part of National Family History Week there will also be a slideshow on display, showcasing all the wonderful family photographs brought into the museum by members of the public in the lead up to National Family History Week.
