Local Drug Action Team welcomed
Burnie City Council Mayor Anita Dow has welcomed today’s announcement by Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt, that Burnie has been selected by the Alcohol and Drugs Foundation to develop a Local Drug Action Team.
The Burnie Local Enabling Group will partner with The Salvation Army, Youth Family and Community Connections and other community partners to develop the Plan over the next six months.
Mayor Anita Dow said, “The partners would use a Collective Impact approach to developing the community plan, aimed at preventing drug and alcohol abuse in the community.”
“The Local Drug Action Team program will help communities work together to reduce and prevent harm and other issues related to alcohol and other drugs. The Alcohol and Drug Foundation will support communities to develop and deliver evidence based social change prevention programs.”
