Last cruise ship for the season

The last cruise ship for the Burnie 2014/15 season will visit Monday, 9 March 2015.

The Pacific Jewel will arrive at 8am into Burnie and leave at 4pm. Approximately 2,000 passengers and crew are expected to explore the region for the day.

Mayor Anita Dow said, “We are pleased to see the return of the Pacific Jewel and welcome all visitors. I encourage businesses who find it viable to do so, to open on the public holiday.

“The passengers are aboard a five night taste of Tasmania cruise. Arriving from Melbourne the ship will head for Hobart after visiting us in Burnie.”

The 2014/15 cruise ship season has created an approximate economic boost of over $2.5 million to the region.

“It has been a very successful season, and I would like to genuinely thank the Council staff, volunteers, all businesses involved and the community for their continued support and efforts of growing Burnie as a tourism destination. We can all be very proud of another successful season,” Mayor Dow said.
