Junior soccer has new home

Burnie City Council has been able to assist the Western Schools Junior Soccer Association in finding a new home for this winter season.

Mayor Alvwyn Boyd said, “McKenna Park is undergoing a major turf renovation this year which has resulted in it being unavailable for this season. The Association sought Council’s assistance to help find a new home while the resurfacing is carried out.

“With the assistance of the Burnie Softball Association and Acton Cricket Club, together with the support of Acton Primary School, a temporary home has been identified at the Acton Primary School Oval.”

The junior soccer season will commence this Saturday 9 April at 8:30am at Acton Recreation Ground and Acton Primary School. Residents in the area are advised to expect busier traffic conditions on Saturday mornings over the winter season.

Council will monitor traffic conditions to ensure the safety and accessibility for local residents and for users of the ground.
