Jesus Christ Superstar set to wow audiences in Burnie

The Burnie PCYC is excited to present Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar to Burnie audiences early next month.

This spectacular musical, starring the North West Coast’s very own Brett Budgeon as Jesus, will open at the Burnie Arts & Function Centre on Friday 5 June at 8pm for 5 shows only – the season closing on Saturday 13 June.

Since its Broadway debut, this spectacular musical has thrilled millions of theatregoers worldwide – mesmerizing them with its passion and captivating them with its story.

Directed by Tim McLaren, with Robyn Cole as Musical Director, Jesus Christ Superstar is propelled by a stirring score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Jesus Christ Superstar takes the audience on a musical journey from rock anthems such as Heaven on their Minds through to ballads like Everythings Alright and I Dont Know How to Love Him.

Mayor Anita Dow said, “Burnie PCYC play a really important role in our community, providing great opportunities for our region’s youth to develop their performance skills and build confidence in their abilities. It is fantastic that they are able to put on such a much loved production and I look forward to future musical theatre partnerships with them.”

"Alderman, Chris Lynch will be showcasing his theatrical talents in one of the lead roles. Council is throwing it's support behind the cast, and we’re looking forward to seeing them take to the stage."
