Free family walk and ride day

Burnie families will soon have the chance to enjoy picturesque coastal pathways and win some great prizes while having lots of fun.

Burnie City Council Community Development Officer Allison Daley said, “The Coastal Pathway, Boardwalk and Oakleigh Overpass were all officially opened October last year. We celebrated with a Family Walk and Ride Day.

“The free family event was such a success it has now become an annual event to encourage families to be more active and to celebrate the wonderful infrastructure we have in our community.

“This year the Family Walk and Ride Day is being held on Saturday 8 October. We are encouraging everyone to either walk or ride along our Coastal Pathway at 11am from either Cooee Point or the Burnie Yacht Club to meet at the Waterfront together for some fun activities,” she said.
Recommended parking is at the Burnie Yacht Club car park or on Cooee Point Road in Cooee.

“Just by starting at those points at 11am on the day everyone who participates goes in the draw for a whole stack of great prizes!

“At the Waterfront families can enjoy the yummy food, a jumping castle and lots of free goodies,” Ms Daley said.

Join in the free Family Walk and Ride Day and go in the draw for a Mental skateboard, Apollo Summit, Mongoose Stunt Bike, BMX 20” bike (with help from Leicester Cycles), vouchers from Red Herring, Café Europa and Burnie Skin Care Boutique, and gift bags from Sport First.
