Fernglade reserve re-opened

Fernglade Reserve is now ready to be enjoyed again.

Fernglade Reserve was among one of the areas in the Burnie region that received damage from the heavy rain fall in January.

Mayor Alvwyn Boyd said, “With the heavy rain a lot of debris was carried down the Emu River, causing damage to the platypus viewing platform, several picnic tables and damage to two electrical barbeques.”

Council engaged a contractor to undertake clearing works of the accumulated debris. This included a burning off process that was undertaken from February 10 to 18.

“I must congratulate Council’s outdoor staff, who have not only worked hard on the Fernglade Reserve but repairing all flood damaged areas. It is wonderful to see this much loved area re-opened and ready for families to enjoy again,” he said.
