Family fun at Burnie’s waterfront

Looking for an affordable and fun day out with the family?

The SeaFM Pura Milk Beach Party will be held on Burnie’s waterfront on Saturday 2 February 2013. This is a free event, however we will have fundraising tins on the day that will be supporting the Cancer Council Tasmania's 'Transport to Treatment Services'.

Mayor Steve Kons said, “This exciting event is fantastic for families. The Burnie waterfront will be bustling with activities. There will be live music throughout the day, plenty of food options and entertainment.

“The surf club is holding their nippers carnival and Navy Boat state series that day too. At 5:45pm the Telstra Pollies Surf Boat Challenge will begin. I have already signed up, along with Jeremy Rockliff, Adam Brooks, Bryan Green and Ruth Forrest. Sid Sidebottom is unable to race, but is keen to be the official race starter.

“The boat race is quite serious as the clubs that each of us row with are competing for prize money for their clubs. I hope to not let my team down.”

Danny Green (World Champion Boxer and Ambassador for Renewable Logic) will also be making a guest appearance on the day. As will current world and Australian Surf Ski Champion Lachie Tame.

“I think it’s great that Danny Green and Lachie Tame are able to come along. It is a unique opportunity for the community to meet sports professionals. With the tennis action also in Burnie at the same time, Burnie really will be buzzing,” Mayor Kons said.

The surf carnival activities begin from 8:30am, with the SeaFM Pura Milk Summer Beach Party starting at 2pm until 7pm. SeaFM will be broadcasting live. Zoe Grey and Danielle Quilliam, Leigh Ratcliffe from No Soda for Yoda and the Attic Owls will provide the live music on the day. Miss Summer Beach Girl competition will also take place on the stage. There will be plenty of entertainment for all ages.
