Council looks forward to future funding announcements

Burnie City Council has not given up hope of securing funding through the Federal Budget for key infrastructure projects in the city.

Burnie City Council Mayor Anita Dow said, “Council is disappointed that no definite announcements were made in the Budget for projects in the Burnie region, however we remain hopeful that a $1.6 billion dollar allocation for yet to be announced projects contained within the budget papers would include projects including the Burnie Tennis Club upgrade, Cooee to Wynyard coastal cycleway and the UTAS development at West Park.”

“Council also hopes that consideration will be given to the Cradle Mountain Master Plan, as this project will have far-reaching positive impacts for the region.”

"We understand that these announcements must be made within ten days of the election being announced. We believe all the projects submitted by Council will provide economic benefits and employment opportunities for our region, in line with the Federal Government's priorities both in the short and longer terms."

"We look forward to hearing about funding for these projects in the near future."
