Community grants announced

Successful community clubs, organisations and individuals are celebrating with the announcement of the successful applicants for Burnie City Council’s round one of the 2013/14 Financial Assistance Grants Program.

Applications for round one closed in April.

Mayor Steve Kons said, “The Financial Assistance Grants Program offers a lifeline to many worthy community projects and groups. It is an extremely rewarding process to be a part of.

“The Financial Assistance Grants Program aims to support community clubs and organisations to initiate or establish programs, projects and activities on a fair and equitable basis.

“It was humbling to read the applications and read about the terrific groups and individuals trying to establish and maintain a service to the community. We had a large variety of applications and we are so pleased to see people taking advantage of this program for the better of the community.”
