Colour Me Crazy Fun Run 2018

The Colour Me Crazy Fun Run is on again this Sunday 9th December, 11am in South Burnie!

The Colour Me Crazy fun run, organised by Burnie’s youth leaders, aims to raise funds for local causes. This year the young leaders taking up the ‘organising torch’ are from Speak Out, Girl Guides and Youth Making Changes Around Burnie, together they aim to raise money for a project to raise awareness of bullying.

Niamh Carr from Girl Guides, said, “We want to raise money to go toward running an anti-bullying project that we are planning. It’s all about local young people helping raise awareness of the issues of bullying, something that can happen to any of us.”

The fun run circuit will be at South Burnie beach and runners will be covered by coloured powder at stations along the length of the course. The powder paint used is wheat gluten based and non-toxic. Runners are advised to turn up on the day in white clothing, and to be aware that the colour powder may stain, so don’t wear anything that you cannot afford to lose!

Burnie City Council Mayor Steve Kons said he would like to “encourage businesses to get involved with this initiative from Burnie’s young people. It is a great cause, even more so that it is the young people, not their teachers or parents, who have identified bullying as an important issue to them. Businesses can make donations toward the project and will be provided with a certificate of recognition.”

Tickets are $10 or $5 for under 16 years, with children under 5 free, and are available from Burnie Tickets
