Call for events for Burnie Shines

Burnie City Council is calling for registration of events being held in October to be included in the 2013 Burnie Shines program.

Mayor Steve Kons said, “Burnie Shines is now in its 13th year and continues to grow.”

From humble beginnings in 2001 with 25 events, Burnie Shines has now grown to over 100 events last year.

Burnie Shines is a month long celebration in October and this is your invitation for your event to be part of it!

“Council is calling for community groups that are organising events in October to register it now, so that their event can receive free publicity through the Burnie Shines festival program,” Mayor Kons said.

Burnie Shines links together many small to medium events, to create a Burnie-made celebration each spring. It is then promoted to the people of Tasmania, inviting them to visit Burnie and indulge in a feast of exhibitions, events, performances and parties.

Mayor Kons said, “Burnie Shines proves that something wonderful can be created by our community when many small events are collated and presented collectively. There is always something for everyone. It is the way we work together that makes the Burnie Shines program unique.”
