Call for community to complete CBD traffic survey

Burnie City Council have engaged GHD to conduct a CBD wide traffic study to assess the technical, safety, capacity and amenity functions of the current CBD road network.

Director of Works and Services Mr Gary Neil said, “The study will be used to inform future road network planning and provide recommendations for improvements if required.

“The study includes extensive community consultation. There is a quick online survey that is now available to anyone who experiences the traffic conditions in Burnie’s CBD. This data is an important component of the study.”

The study will include:

  • A snapshot of current traffic flow and network performance.
  • An understanding of the interaction of CBD traffic flows with the Bass Highway junctions.
  • Understand community views on the function of North Terrace and the Waterfront/CBD precinct.
  • An appreciation of use and amenity of streets on the periphery of the CBD.

“It is important to collate the expectation of the community and motorists using the CBD. It would be great to get as many people as possible to spend a few minutes on the simple eight question survey that can be found on the Burnie City Council website,” Mr Neil said.

The survey will be online until 5pm Friday 4 November 2011. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey.
