Burnie’s 2015 subscription season revealed

The 2015 Performing Arts Subscription Season will be a year of international flavours, outrageous comedies, and a celebration of Australian heroes.

Of the 19 events announced at the launch on Tuesday, 25 November 2015. Three are international acts, nine are from Interstate and seven are Tasmanian productions.
Mayor Anita Dow said, “The program is extremely exciting. The launch saw a sneak peak special guest performance from Tasmania’s own Robert Jarman, delivering a thought-provoking monologue from As We Forgive; and Tom Burlinson (the Man from Snowy River, and Australia’s Got Talent judge) crooning Frank Sinatra.”

Geoff Dobson Director of the Burnie Arts & Function Centre said, “The 2015 Performing Arts Subscription Season has a fantastic variety of shows to cater for all ages and tastes.
“There are vibrant local community theatre and musicals, to a unique season highlight, Origin of O, which takes the audience on a digital ayahuasca journey for the mind, body and soul, to then a collaboration between the world-renown TaikOz and award-winning transmedia artists, the Digital Shamans.

“Thanks to the outstanding support Burnie receives from the Tasmanian International Arts Festival, presented by Ten Days, the Centre will host a Bolivian version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, a Cuban cabaret, Terrapin Puppet Theatre’s interactive I Think I Can, plus the visually spectacular Circa production of Beyond.”
