Burnie to celebrate International Women’s Day with luncheon

Burnie City Council invites the community to come together to celebrate International Women’s Day.

An International Women’s Day Luncheon will be held on 8 March, 2019 from 12 midday to 1.30pm at the Burnie Arts and Function Centre.

Burnie City Council Mayor Steve Kons said “we are very lucky to have Margot Kelly as MC for the afternoon and our guest speaker will be Dr Kim Dobromilsky.”

Dr Dobromilsky is a specialist obstetrician, gynaecologist and advanced laparoscopic surgeon, practicing at the North West Regional and North West Private Hospitals.

Dr Dobromilsky believes everyone deserves the opportunity to have a family; and she has seen the impact gynaecological disorders can have.

She is working to provide a high standard of surgery and treatment to women in north -west Tasmania.

Dr Dobromilsky balances a busy working life with her three sons and husband.

Tickets for the two- course luncheon are available from burniearts.net and are $50 each or $400 for a table of eight; $5 from each ticket will be donated to Warrawee Women’s Shelter.

The 2019 theme for International Women’s Day is “Better the balance, better the world”.

The future is exciting. Let's build a gender-balanced world. From grassroots activism to worldwide action, we are entering an exciting period of history where the world expects balance. We notice its absence and celebrate its presence. Balance drives a better working world. Let's all help create a #BalanceforBetter.”
