Burnie Youth Council Art Challenge 2018

View outstanding artworks this week as the annual Burnie Youth Council Art Challenge kicks off at Studio 2 Eleven in Upper Burnie.

Burnie City Council Mayor Alvwyn Boyd said “This exhibition will showcase 2D, 3D and photographic works by youth from across the Burnie region - from Kinder to College. This year we have 170 entries; the diverse works from each of the categories will make for an extremely interesting and engaging experience."

“Last year entries into the challenge filled the studio, with families attended the openings during the week from 3-5pm every day, and the final Friday night seeing a capacity crowd for the awards ceremony.”

One of the highlights of the award night on Friday 21 September will be the ‘Rising Star Art Award’, initiated by retired teachers Sandra Henderson and Bob Lubout.

Awards will also be given to young artists who produces a piece of work which shows outstanding creativity and technical skills. Winners of the Senior Award for students in years 8, 9 and 10 will receive a certificate and $100 gift voucher and winners of the Junior Award will receive a certificate and $50 gift voucher.

The winners will be announced Friday 21nd September from 3.30pm to 4.30pm at Studio 2 Eleven at 211 Mount Street, Upper Burnie and will then be displayed at the Burnie Regional Art Gallery from Friday 19 October to Sunday 28 October 2018.
