Burnie Ten secures new naming rights partner

The Burnie Ten race committee is thrilled to announce that The Heritage Burnie, our local specialty cheese manufacturer, and already a major partner, will continue their involvement this year as naming rights partners of Tasmania’s iconic road race.

This new partnership is a terrific endorsement of the efforts of all our volunteers and recognition of the substantial public support we enjoy.

Burnie City Council Mayor Alvwyn Boyd said “The Heritage Burnie is an organisation with a long-standing reputation of community involvement. Their association has already been long term, as they have been a major business partner of the Burnie Ten for many years as well as being the Naming Rights Partner of the Burnie Athletic Club’s Burnie Gift, so it is wonderful to have them take on this Naming Rights Partnership”.

Rebecca Redman, The Heritage Burnie marketing manager said “For us this is a natural progression. It also demonstrates our strong company commitment to promote, support and encourage positive health outcomes for our local community.

“We like to be involved with supporting successful events, and there is no doubt that the Burnie Ten has been very successful and is held in very high regard as an important race on the Australian running calendar. Alongside this, the race has tremendous support from the Tasmanian community attracting nearly 3,000 people from across the State.”

The Heritage Burnie Ten will be launched in July and runs on Sunday 21st October. There will be three separate races this year:

  • Paraquad Tasmania Elite Wheelchair 10km Road Race, starts at 11am
  • The Heritage Burnie Ten, starts at 11:15am
  • The Burnie Ten 5 kilometre race, starts at 11:35am

“The Heritage Burnie Ten is incredibly fortunate to enjoy the level of community support we have every year. The region is justifiably proud and this year we celebrate 34 years which is a great accomplishment for those who have been involved over the past three decades” Mayor Boyd said.

The Heritage Burnie Ten attracts the very best of the nation’s elite athletes. From our State’s fun runs - we are the richest race in Tasmania with over $16,000 in prizemoney and we still boast the quickest time for 10km (Darren Wilson’s 28:11 in 1997). The Heritage Burnie Ten is still the biggest event of its type in Tasmania outside of the State capital.
