After 12 years as an Alderman at the Burnie City Council, Colin Winter decided it was time to step down.

Mayor Alvwyn Boyd thanked Colin for his contribution at the October Council meeting last night, Colin’s last duty as an Alderman.

“Colin joined the Council in 1999 at the same election as myself and over the past 12 years has dedicated his time to this City. He was also a Deputy Mayor for two years during this time.

“Colin has been a great contributor and debater around this table and his contributions will be sadly missed. He has been a great help to me and a very wise person who I could trust with lots of advice on some of the more challenging parts of my role,” Mayor Boyd said.

Colin’s community involvement is extensive and includes life membership with Apex Australia, past president and member of the Rotary Club of Burnie, membership with the Coastal Art Group and he has been a board member of Braddon Business Centre for the past 11 years.

He was also the Foundation Chairman and current board member of Citylink for 11 years.

“His experience with local business in Burnie has been invaluable. Colin has been heavily involved with Citylink and CBD matters as well as all the issues surrounding Council.

“He has certainly left his mark on our great City. I think I speak for all the Aldermen that this is a very sad goodbye. Colin always conducted himself professionally, as a constructive, fun loving, passionate member of our team who will be sorely missed around the table,” Mayor Alvwyn Boyd said.
