Burnie Children Services transferred to local provider

Burnie City Council can confirm the transfer of Burnie Children Services to local provider Discovery Early Learning Centres after undergoing an expression of interest process.

Mayor Anita Dow said, “Council have accepted an offer from Discovery Early Learning Centres for the transfer of Alexander Beetle House, Milpara and the outside school hours care services (OSHC), together with the Wisteria Lane building.

“It is anticipated that the transfer of the long day care centres will take place in mid-January, and OSHC services will be transferred at the commencement of term one next year. All coordinators and staff will be transferring across to Discovery and will continue in their current roles.

“Due to commercial reasons, Council is unable to disclose the sale price, however the offer was extremely competitive and met market expectations.
“Council is more than satisfied that Discovery’s proposal will best ensure the continuity of quality care for children and families in our community.”

Jo Walsh, CEO Discovery Early Learning Centres, is looking forward to meeting and developing a relationship with the Burnie families and working closely with the Burnie Children’s Services staff through the transition process.

“Discovery is excited to be welcoming the Burnie Children’s Services to our team. We take great pride in our services, the learning environments and educational programs that we provide. We are looking forward to continuing the high standard of care that Burnie Children’s Services are renowned for.

“We bring with us years of experience, local knowledge and a support team dedicated to ensuring children receive the highest quality education and care. We hope to make the transition as smooth as possible for everyone involved.”
