2016 Paper Clothing and Paper Mask Competition

The Paper Clothing and Paper Mask Competition is on again.

Burnie City Council Deputy Mayor Alvwyn Boyd said, “The competition is now in its seventh year and brings together Burnie’s history in the paper industry with the artistic talents of our community. It is a wonderfully creative activity that engages all ages, and is also a constructive pastime for students over the school holidays.”

This is an amateur competition and therefore excludes participants with professional dress making qualifications.

“The competition sets the challenge either as a team or individual, to create life size clothing or a face mask purely from paper product. This can include using newspapers, fast food wrappers, shopping dockets or even toilet paper,” Deputy Mayor Boyd said.

There are three age categories which can be entered:

•             Under 13yrs

•             13 - 18 yrs

•             18 and over

All life sized garments are judged as a whole garment - including front and back.

Completed entries must be received at the Burnie Art Gallery between:

1.30pm & 4.00pm Saturday 20/Sunday 21 August

10.00am & 4.30pm Monday 22/Tuesday 23 August

All paper clothing entries must be accompanied with registration forms as well as a photo of the entry. Late entries will NOT be accepted.

Please note mannequins are not supplied.
