THE 2017 Sea FM Burnie Christmas Parade will be held in the Burnie CBD this Friday, 8 December 2017 from 7.00pm. There are some great prizes on offer this year including Best Corporate Group, Best Community Group and Best School Group so come along and support the participants and join the countdown to Christmas!

COUNCIL’S atrium has also been transformed with its Christmas display including the ABC Giving Tree. The Giving Tree Appeal is Tasmania’s biggest Christmas charity, raising money and gifts to donate to disadvantaged people throughout the holiday season, so come in and place your gift donation under the tree before 11 December.

THE by-election polls for the positions of Mayor and Alderman close at 10.00am today. Counting will be undertaken by the Tasmanian Electoral Commission and results will be announced this week.

COUNCIL’s Annual General Meeting will be held this evening at 7.00pm at the TMEC Centre of Manufacturing Excellence, 13 Wellington Street in South Burnie with guest speaker Mr Lee Whiteley, Executive General Manager at Elphinstone Pty Ltd. Copies of the 2016-17 Annual Report are available at burnie.net or from the City Offices, 80 Wilson Street, Burnie. All interested members of the community are invited to attend.
